the other day Casey asked me, "why do we live here & not some place warm?"

my reply, "I don't know."

the kids are herding 25 baby chicks, while their box is being cleaned.

we are raising them in our kitchen until they are a little bit bigger!

they are quite the novelty, at the moment!

Tanner was as giddy as a school girl to wear his

"Kiss me I'm Irish" head band to school.

(he told me it didn't work)

I went to a Relief Society Forum last Saturday.

Julie B. Beck was the speaker and she was amazing!

She took questions from the audience & the answers

that she gave were inspiring. She quoted scripture and used

stories from all of the stand works to answer questions that were

asked by the audience.

Here are some things she said that made me smile and think:

"The Lord expects us to open our mouths and speak truth with love and gentleness."

"Go to the Lord and ask if you are important!"

"We (women) need to understand the plan

or it is hard to keep going."

"Seek wisdom instead of power."

"The Lord accepts your best efforts."

"We (the Relief Society) aren't in the ENTERTAINMENT business."

"We (women) need to be open mouthed and articulate. We need to be able to answer questions and not turn to our husbands or fathers for the answers."

"We don't have to be fearful, we need to be faithful."

when speaking about visiting teaching, she said:

"If you have nothing in common with your partner or the ladies you visit, if your schedules don't work together, you need to get over your issues. It is more about your heart and your hands. The Lord cares about your consecration, not your issues."

One woman asked how the women of the church could help in the fight against pornography, especially since it is becoming more of a problem among the women of the church. Sister Beck said, "We need to take control of the problem. We need to defend our home and family. Sometimes we, the women of the church, are the pornography!"

I say bravo to that! Sister Beck hit that right on the head. I love how she didn't sugar coat any of the answers to the questions asked of her. She was direct and to the point. She didn't leave any of us wondering on the questions she answered. She reminded me a lot of President Hinckley, stating simple truths and never offending.

The two hour meeting was wonderful and flew by. Sister Beck is a powerful and strong woman who teaches and directs by the spirit of God. It was evident in that meeting and everyone left uplifted and armed, ready to take one the daily battles we all face!
